A multi-national, multi-disciplinary research team composed of COST Action members has been awarded 3 million euro from the European Commission following submission to the HEALTH 2012 3.2-1 call "Improving the organisation of health service delivery," sub-section "Patient-centred care and patients' involvement."
The date of the next COST meetings (after Lucerne in April 2012) will be November 19-21st in Hanover Germany. I will send more details later about who will be eligible for reimbursements etc when I have that information. However in the meantime please add these dates to you diary.

Ein gesunder Start ins Leben: Salutogenese und Gesundheit rund um Geburt und frühe Mutterschaft

Die Qualität der Betreuung vor, während und nach der Geburt, im Wochenbett und in der frühen Mutterschaft zeigt langfristige Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit von Müttern, Kindern und ihren Familien. Noch immer wird die Zeit rund um Geburt und frühe Elternschaft aber hauptsächlich aus einer Risikoperspektive betrachtet. Es ist deshalb notwendig, die medizinische Sichtweise mit einer salutogenetischen Perspektive zu erweitern. Hier setzt die europäische COST-Aktion «Geburt: Kulturen, Inhalte und Konsequenzen» an. Sie befasst sich mit gesundheitsfördernden Ressourcen und Best-Practice-Modellen für die Betreuung während Schwangerschaft, Geburt und im ersten Lebensjahr des Kindes. Ziele, Grundlagen und Projekte des COST-Programms werden an der Tagung vorgestellt und in ihrer Bedeutung für die Schweiz diskutiert.
