Scientific work plan methods
In the first months, the first annual Workshop will be convened. All Action members will share their current
research activities, and the Working Groups (WG) will be formed. An agenda will be agreed for future annual
Workshops, Conferences, and Training School/Think Tank events for young and Early Stage researchers, and
for Short Term Scientific Meetings. Over the next year, the contributors to each WG will scope their area of
study, including ongoing work they are undertaking, establish the state of the art in their area, and undertake a
gap analysis, using systematic realist review techniques. This will lead to the initial publications for the
Action, and to the formation of the scientific and knowledge transfer milestones.
Each WG will host a Community of Practice (CoP) of service users, policy makers, service providers and commissioners, and practitioners, that will contribute electronically via the Action website. Once a year, all the CoP’s will meet to share insights and innovations. In year 4, the final Workshop will synthesise the WGs’ reports into an Action state of the art book, and a Conference will disseminate the findings, and plan for the future.
New activities will emerge over time, and new members will be welcomed. Postgraduate research students and
early researchers will be engaged in all Action activities. Each WG has a specific area of scientific activity.
